It's been a real disaster. Lulu must be well aware of this, and are extending the 20% reduction to keep goodwill among its long-term customers. I imagine some very tense meetings are taking place along the lines of saving face. It wouldn't surprise me if some on the board of Lulu have even discussed the possibility of moving everything back to the old platform - because it least it functioned ! They should reverse it.
Ingram Spark just did a site overhaul as well. And t works.
I'm extremely annoyed with how poorly this new platform works. Can't even upload files from MS Word and there's no facility to print to the correct PDF sizes. Just try printing a 6x9 book to PDF using "MS Print to PDF". You can select 6x9 or even set custom size 6.25 x 9.25 to allow for their margins, but it still comes out in 8 1/2 x 11! Useless if you want to make your book a standard US trade size 6x9. I am actively seeking an alternative here in Canada. When found, all my books will be moved to it.

Unfortunately that's not an option when "save as" is used.

Try using an online converter. www.freepdfconvert.com/I use Word 97, embed the fonts using Word 97, and have no problems converting to PDF. As a rule if the doc is properly set up there should be no issues.

As a rule if the doc is properly set up there should be no issues. I use Word 97 as well, but this online converter didn't work for me. Even though I embedded true type fonts in the original Word doc under Options and Save, and the pdf I created from it said it was 6 x 9 in size (which seemed a result at the time), when I tried to upload it to Lulu I got error messages talking about transparencies and how the fonts were not embedded. Unfortunately, using Cute PDF Writer I cannot "print" a 6 x 9 word document to pdf, it automatically converts to 8.5 x 11 size. When using Word 97, it will always be "Custom Size" in the Page Setup section, which is no good for making pdfs for Lulu since the website overhaul. Previously, for 12 years(!), no problem with Lulu, I could just upload my Word document to the site and all was well.

At the moment I daren't do anything with Lulu because it is so obvious the new version is far from being completed. I am sure programmers are busy straightening everything out. Let's be patient. I agree though they should have left the previous version untouched pending the completion of the present one.

After selecting CutePDF as the "printer", did you click on 'Printer Properties'/Advanced/Paper Size/Postscript Custom Page Size, and enter Width=6, Height=9?

I did try that a day or two ago when I saw it in the options, wasn't clear if it worked. But will try again and see if that works for a pdf uploading to Lulu.

Using dopdf is the simplest method of making PDF's from MS Word. It embeds fonts as well. I've never had a single problem with it. As far as the new site goes, I've watched 10's of people showing that they've left today, heading instead to Amazon KDP and others. Their cover template maker is not working and leaves borders along the edge of book covers. One guy showed the books he'd order and they were ruined. He left today for KDP. Many others have left too. Lulu should at least give daily updates and promise some compensation for all the trouble they've caused. Many have lost so much money, reputation, and customers, over this. So sad, I really liked Lulu.com but this is getting so old.

Alas, it saved to pdf as 8.5 x 11. Go into Properties as winteriscoming suggested (DoPDF) and change the size to 6x9. Otherwise attach doc tmr and I'll look at the file for you and give you your PDF. You can then delete the attachments and I will do the same. I will also tell you how I did it.

Hi, no joy with Dopdf, it is not compatible with Windows XP. Don't know how to attach a Word doc to here...

Don't know how to attach a Word doc to here... Okay, XP may be part of the issue, since you can run all of Office 97 on Ubuntu 16.04, which is how I'm doing it.
The converter will print a PDF using the doc settings, so if you haven't embedded the font you're using in Word 97, then do it before you convert.
As for attaching a file like that you'd have to register as a site user, which would also allow you to PM Maggie and get her email address.
*** Edit ***
Looks like for a 32 bit system you'd have to go with Ubuntu 16.04 or lower, though 16.04 works pretty well.
