The publishing world is changing constantly. Last year Createspace merged with KDP, Ingram Spark redid their website and announced they will remove material they do not approve of, Lulu...is having major site problems, for now, and they removed the lesser popular sizes.
So, my suggestion, which I follow myself, is make the same book 6x9 paperback at lulu 6x9 hardcover at Ingram Spark, 5.5x8.5 paperback at KDP, ebook at Streetlib.com, and photobooks at blurb. That way should anything change in the future you are covered. It will hurt, but you won't fall apart.
It's not a good idea to have all your eggs in one basket, no matter how much you like it.
The following offer free ISBNs: Ingram Spark, KDP, and Lulu. Not sure about Streetlib.com. You'd have to look it up, but they are a world class ebook distributor with the best reporting system in the world.
and all have free setup as of May 2020.
