I agree Sphinx. I think Lulu might regret their decision on this. If you're truly open as they say then everyone should be able to write what they want. If you don't want to read it, don't buy it. There are a lot of hateful people out that just out of spite would have your books taken down. That's what I see happening. Anyone can be offended by just about anything. I think Lulu is overstepping their bounds. They've already lost a lot of people. I think they will lose even more eventually. Sad I really liked this company. May be time for me to leave too. If I didn't need money so bad for rent etc. I'd go upload blank interiors and in all my books and take them elsewhere. Any new books will be published elsewhere. In the U.S. the 1st Amendment guarantees freedom of speech [to include speech you don't like] up to a point; my right to free speech ends where yours begins and so on. Speech meant to instill fear and so on can slide as long as it isn't a direct threat. Hence the reason screaming "Fire!" in a crowded theater or calling in a bomb threat to a school will get someone arrested. You take the good with the bad, or you stifle creativity and eventually see a failed society.
In other polities Freedom of Speech means the freedom to not hear what you don't like or want to hear, as in censorship. The right to have a basic human existence with some basic human dignity is often hard to find when your ability to be an a**hole or decent depending upon your choice is restricted.
Don't know what to tell you on rent as I've been waiting to get a shattered tooth yanked and a new partial plate made for six years now. Patience isn't always easy when you have things to take care of.

Sadly freedom of speech is under attack in the U.S.A. That's why I will take my books elsewhere later where I have freedom of speech to publish what I want. True patience is hard sometimes.

Does anyone here use Smashwords? I was just looking at the site and they fit my payment requirements but it looks like they are ebook only. And don't distribute to Amazon. Hate to lose Amazon on ebooks as I sell most there. If Smashwords is better profit wise I might take my ebooks there and leave the paperbacks on Lulu for Amazon.

Freedom of Speech is under attack in many venues -- my last contact in the PRC went silent roughly eight years ago.
If you have the patience to follow through on what you will not live to see, then you're good.
An almost four-year-old is demanding I bend the knee. I know my duty and it is to the future. Time for dinner and time to rack out.
Good luck

> If you actually believed Lulu Press would resolve all the new platform's issues by close of business today, oh well.
Oh, my gosh, Sphinx. Of course not! I guess you missed that the whole point of this thread was to illustrate the futility of believing Lulu's predictions. It's called theatrical satire. They said they'd be down "a few hours". This was DAY 42.

For ebooks I have used Smashwords, PublishDrive, KDP, Lulu, Ingram Spark, and Streetlib. Streetlib is the best in my experience. They send your book to Amazon and everywhere under the sun.

Two and a half hours to go till June 6th. Still no report or revenue listed except for the past week. All problems still there, broken promises again. Really thinking of going somewhere a little less political and suppressive. The updates were bad enough but the new attitude Lulu's getting is the last straw.

Streetlib uses paypal which I want and also does paperback right? And free ISBN's. How would go about moving my books to them? Since all my books are at lulu with their ISBN's. Would there be a waiting period for them to accept them? Bad thing is I'm not sure if I even have the original files. Used to be able to download them from lulu but now you just get a pdf or epub. I do have all covers backed up though.

Write to Streetlib and ask about the ISBNs. Customer service is superb. KDP paperback or Ingram Spark.I would personally spread it all out.

I read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad five years ago. I would recommend it.

I only use PayPal for payments. That's why I chose Lulu at first over Create space. For personal reasons don't want the money going into my bank account. Paypal has never charged me anything. I've used them for over twelve years. Streetlib might though. I've already sent them an email so looking into it. And I have read the book, many years ago.
