If losing people due to the updates was not enough, now people are leaving because Lulu has decided to air their social beliefs on the site. Just checked the Facebook update people are pissed. I told them not to get political on their page and it's reflecting by the replies on the update. Everyone is saying keep politics off our publishing platform. Stick to business. Also as Sphinx and I discussed earlier Lulu is now going against free speech. Which is illegal. They are going to keep up until they lose everyone. So sad Lulu. The updates should have been tested first. And you should leave your personal views at home. Not forcing them on your customers. Many are complaining still no revenue showing. Same here at 12:15. Times up Lulu. Of course Blue and Gold did say not expect miracles today. LOL Not to offend anyone but social issues and politics are best left at home. I really wanted to give them a chance but they just keep promising things that never happen. Again I do apologize if I offend anyone. Just so so frustrated.

Actually, it is not illegal for a company to inhibit "free speech" (for instance, Lulu's "measures to prevent hateful content from being published or sold on our platform and reinforcing the ability for users to report this content to us..."). The First Amendment applies only to what the government can and cannot do. For example, if a publisher refused to print a new edition of Mein Kampf or The Protocols of Zion, they would be free to do so.

Correct, being a private company rather than a governmental agency means Lulu Press can take down any content it wants to, and I believe such is stated in the terms and conditions for using the site.
The problem lies in the wording: "measures to prevent hateful content from being published or sold on our platform and reinforcing the ability for users to report this content to us..." as well as "basic human decency".
My question is, who at Lulu Press determines what constitutes hateful content, by what criteria is the judgment made, and is there an appeals process?
Having observed people who in all seriousness would label "The world is a globe, it's not flat" as hate speech, maybe Lulu Press should work on a bit more clarity in its messaging.

That is my point, who decides what is human decency at Lulu? I think this will take them down even further as people get offended and have other's books taken down. I see a lot of books on Lulu that I don't agree with. I just don't buy them. Those people have the right to write whatever they want. It's none of my business. There is a book on Barnes and Noble called Why White People Can't Talk About Racism. I find this offensive. It's grouping all white people together saying we can't discuss these matters. I find that racist and insulting. I'm not going to go complain about the book. Life is too short I have better things to do with my time.
