I will definitely check out those links BlueAndGold. I have loved poetry since I was a young girl. My problem today is that many printed books (much as I prefer them) are difficult for me to read. On the internet I can enlarge the text. Recently I took a chance with Silverstein's printed poetry book, "Where the Sidewalk Ends," bought it and got lucky. The book is intended for both children and adults so the print was large enough for me to manage. You are a very good poet BlueAndGold and I wish you all the best with your books.

Ron, I checked out your friend Sommer Browning. She is a clever young woman. Sommer "writes poems, tells jokes. draws comics, creates installations, makes books, hosts readings, curates exhibitions, and works as a librarian in Denver." WOW!!

"Perhaps that will win me over." I hope you will start making eBooks BlueAndGold, because like you I too am an "Old fashioned reader" and I like your kind of poetry. Yes there is some free verse that I like, but as you mentioned they have "images of such soaring grandeur," that they evoke incredibly vivid pictures or great ideas in the mind. I love T.S.Elliot's free verse poem of "The Journey of the Magi." The focus here is more on the process, the inner and outer journeys that humans take in order to experience spiritual rebirth. This is what happened to T.S.Elliot.

I thought at first that it was science fiction. I love learning about our universe but I'm not a fan of science fiction and BlueAndGold's poems are like SphinxCameron said, "meant to help the reader find a sense of peace, calm, or perhaps restful tranquility". BLueAndGolds's poem, that I quoted earlier, really spoke to me. It was beautiful!.

"Castle's Keeper: A Song of Love and Justice" A poetic tale of love, war and rebellion, this is the story of a struggle to end the rule of a usurper's tyranny sparked by two prisoners' romance and the help they receive from unexpected places. Their journey is a celebration of hearts of passion and an affirmation of allegiances of honor, righteous leadership and the fight for freedom for all mankind. Your book looks interesting but again I'd like an eBook. Also I think you'd sell many more copies.

Larika: Thank you very much! That was a fine compliment and I appreciate it very much. I wish we had an emoji to indicate blushing. Ron: Coming from you, my friend, I take that as very high praise indeed! Maybe some day I will have the time to learn about "color palettes" and "layers" and "assigning transparency colors" and such. I have knowledge of what the terms refer to, but I just don't have any experience yet with actually playing with them. Being a guy who has to work for a living, it's a wonder I get any of this stuff done at all!

Being a guy who has to work for a living, it's a wonder I get any of this stuff done at all! All I would have done would be to trace around the outline of the landscape, using a mouse or graphics stylus, selecting that area. Then hit "copy" and then "paste." This would have put the mountains on their own layer above the layer with Mars. You could then move Mars anywhere you wanted and the mountains would overlap it. But, that being said, I think your cover looks just fine as it is!

This is a bit belated, but it is slow around here so I thought I would catch up on this a bit. Here is the *"final" iteration of the cover for A Hike On Mars: (Click thumbnail for larger image) As you can see, I did my homework and learned how to create layers and transparencies and my, what a world of possibilities suddenly opened before me! The base layer is a portion of the Summer Triangle (a section of the Milky Way) I took with a 24mm lens on 35mm slide film about 20 years ago and scanned. On top of that is a high-resolution JPL image of Mars where I carefully erased the black background to make it transparent. On top of that is a darkened and reddened picture I took in the South Dakota Badlands a few years ago. I traced around the mountains with a "transparent eraser" to eliminated the background sky. Then on top of that layer are WordArt images and Text boxes with transparent backgrounds done with MSWord. (And yes, I realize that the " and Other Rhymes" should have been done in a color which contrasts more with the red hills, like yellow. Sighhh..... *As with any project, I don't think anything is ever "finished" from the creator's point of view (it's a trap!), but practicality dictates that a cutoff point be reached to enable work on further projects. Thank you very much, friends, for your encouragement and perspective!
