The Bible contains hate, love, incest, violence, and a whole lot of racism (the poor Samaritans). Are we going to ban the bible too? I think it contains rape as well.

That one I don't think you need to worry about.

See? It's full of great stories covering every area of human behavior. There's a reason it's been a bestseller every year since Gutenberg.

It's the best collection of 66 books I've ever read, and I've read a few good ones.

Who is suggesting banning books? I'm certainly not. I am simply agreeing with Ron that a publisher must be responsible for what he/she publishes. If the book supposes reality, or truth in science, but is a tissue of lies then the publisher has a responsibility to the public.
The Bible writers lived at different times, and were separated by hundreds of years. Some were complete strangers to one another. The writers were businessmen, traders, shepherds, fishermen, soldiers, physicians, preachers, kings—human beings from all walks of life. They served under different governments and lived within contrasting cultures and systems of philosophy.
Books such as the Bible must be understood in the context of their time keeping in mind that elements of the Bible were written over many centuries.

In this case you belong to a church of protestant tradition. Catholic Bibles contain 73 books and Orthodox and assyrians have a few more, such as a 3rd and 4th book of Maccabees and a 2nd book of Ezra. It was Martin Luther who had removed the seven deuterocanonical books. In Catholic schools there is the mnemonic concerning the 73 books and Mary, who is said to have turned 73 years old.

However, Anglophone Orthodox read the King James Version bible. Sixty-six books translated from the original Greek.

Publishers can choose what they print. Decide which one you are and act accordingly. If you are going to take on the role of publisher, do it from a to z. Is lulu a printer or publisher? They are a printer, and enabler of publishers. They take a cut of profits. They do not edit, design or promote every author's book/s. So, just print the books then.
