I'm new-ish to Lulu.com, and set up my first big project in April/May and on June 12 (two weeks ago) ordered my proof copy. At the time, everything was set up so that once I approved the proof copy, it would then go out in global distribution.
The proof copy came today (yay!). I found _one word_ that needed to be capitalized. So I uploaded a new PDF, ordered a new proof copy (well, actually, TWO, but that's a different story, I can't figure out how to cancel the first order...), and now my project is "approved for distribution" and "in distribution" but also "private access":
(http://www.ellipsis.cx/~liana/approved.png, since the image link doesn't appear to be working)
When I click revise, I get:
(http://www.ellipsis.cx/~liana/noteligible.png, ditto)
But nothing has changed in the specs of the book, and it was approved for global distribution before? And this doesn't tell me what part of the book configuration I need to edit?
I'm asking here because the support form doesn't allow you to submit a request, no one answers on the chat, and I'm in the UK and would rather not call an international number!
I've poked around a bit and have realised that the recent changes to the site may mean I need to just give up and start someplace else (thankfully, I haven't gotten very far) but I figured I'd at least give a go asking here first?

Hello,
The process hasn't changed. Click Revise, look up at the tabs and select the upload stage. Upload a new PDF interior (cover won't change as it's only one word) and follow all the steps till the end. Buy, wait a day, then approve for distribution.
Lulu is having issues with their streaming to distribution, according to a link Benziger posted, and Winter has been waiting a long time for his books to appear on retailer sites, but since it's only one letter, any buyer won't be too upset. I just found the word sweat spelled sweet in A Breath of Snow Ashes, plus another horrific typo, so don't worry too much about it.

Hi Maggie,
Maybe my post wasn't clear -- sorry! I've uploaded the revised files, ordered my proof copy, and approved the files for distribution, but where I am running into trouble is that despite the fact that I've selected global distribution, the project is currently set to "private access" (and I can't figure out how to change that), and when I go to "revise", it tells me "Current book configuration is not eligible for Global Distribution. You will need to edit your book configuration to publish" -- but there is no further information as to _why_ my book isn't eligible (when it previously had been, and nothing has changed other than uploading a new PDF of the inside) nor what part of the "book configuration" I need to edit in order to publish.
Hope this clarifies what my problem is.

I'm trying to figure out how to reconcile the fact that on my "projects" page, it says that my project is approved for distribution but is set to private access; the only way I can think to try to change the private access setting is by revising, and when I go into the staging area, it says that my book is not eligible for distribution. So is it or isn't it, and how to do I get it to not be private access only?

The long and the short of it, sadly, is that the new platform doesn't work. Bug after bug, data missing and so on.
I have so many published titles but am scared to touch any of them. I no longer have any idea of what a customer might receive should he or she buy one of my books. Also after months, I still cannot access my sales & revenue history. Worse still, the book-revision process is horribly flawed
Apart from a joint legal action against the Charlatans at Lulu, I have no idea what to do next. We can sue them but it won't get our books back.
What a shame. A previously decent company - now run by Charlatans.

Hi Sarauckelman,
Thank you for clarifying. The issue might be that your book size or binding may no longer be eligible for distribution. I'm guessing as the site is super new and I don't have all the facts. What size is it? The binding?
This part still doesn't make sense: You will need to edit your book configuration to publish
The site is a mess. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

So is it or isn't it, and how to do I get it to not be private access only? It may have already gone into distribution before all the changes. They will likely not pull it but they will not allow any changes.
Check what sizes they now distribute against the size and binding you published.

It was a standard 6x9. Is that no longer an accepted size?

Because you revised perhaps it wants you to resize the interior to have bleed? And to revise the cover according to their template. Try that and see. Take your PDF and reprint it as 6.25x9.25. And download their cover template at the cover stage and resize your cover according to that. You have nothing to lose.

A small point often overlooked. And sorry if this is too obvious! Unless you delete the previous version of the pages PDF it will combine the old with the new, but that often only makes it exceed a max page count.

But that's not the case here; the file is 26 pages.

Occasionally they add the bleed to the interior file themselves.

I seem to have the same problem...
My intention is to publish a US Letter hardback to Lulu's Bookstore (in an attempt to keep the price down whilst getting a bit of a return).
The proof was fine so I've finally sat down to publish it. Up pops the little 'Not eligible for Global Distribution' warning; so what, not interested.
The Global Distribution tick box is greyed-out. This shouldn't be a problem but it still has its default tick which now can't be unticked. The subsequent page now wants an ISBN... I have no way forward.
I can't recall anything warning me that formats ineligible for global distribution are also ineligible for Lulu. I'm hoping it's just a glitch in their software. Has anyone got any knowledge of this issue they could share, please, until I get a response to my support request?

It should be the first thing.
