Having just shown our Hatfield Local History Society publications on this forum, here too is a family history book which I wrote and published last year. www.lulu.com/en/gb/shop/g-philip-marris/marris-of-burton-corner/paperback/product-1mk7y64d.htmlUnless your surname is Marris or you have a family relationship, this book will be of little interest. But, as my great uncle Harold spent fifty years researching the family starting in the early 1900s and I then spent another twenty-five years on the subject, I did feel it worth publishing. The book was sent to family members around the world, rather than aiming for global sales. American readers on this forum may be interested that one of my ancestors fought on the British side in the American War of Independence - and was badly injured. I won't reveal more, You will just need to buy a copy. The front cover shows our family coat of arms.

Oh Sirram: Just the front page already: great! And then the short description. I am green with envy. 1066 - that is 410 years more than my family. At that time the church in my home town burned down and all the baptismal books in the church tower were irrevocably lost. My father is working on our family history. I hope that I will be able to publish one or the other booklet soon. For example, how an ancestor paid the fine in 1900 for a deDion Button car driver whose driving led to a general driving ban in the province concerned until 1925. Maybe something like this - clear that the horses were afraid:

Your book looks good sirram. I did a similar book for my family. Your book is in Amazon too. However what i don't understand about Amazon is why there is sometimes no preview as is the case with your book.

Thanks both for your kind words. And, yes, larika, I too would like to know why "Look Inside" isn't available. I never got round to investigating but, prompted by your good self, I have just emailed them. I'll respond here if they come back with anything.

Never assume that. Social history of any type is often of interest to many people. Such books are not just depicting a life, but an era.
