I have been with Lulu for years. I really liked the site but at the moment they are having problems. If you visit their site you are greeted with "Lulu has the right tools for authors, publishers, and businesses to fulfill all your book printing needs." I was very satisfied with the old lulu so I am prepared to see if it can get over its teething problems and get it right. It will require a great deal of patience but hopefully it will be worth it.

They should revert to the original version until the new is complete. All my books are stalled.

They should revert to the original version until the new is complete. All my books are stalled. Yes markcbrown I would like them to do that too, but unfortunately I don't think that will happen. This change in Lulu has affected hundreds of their customers and I think that many will leave Lulu and move to other sites. I'm in no rush so I'm going to stick around and see if Lulu can get it right.

So is Lulu not working? I am trying to create my first book on Lulu today (I have previously self published several book on KDP and IngramSpark), and I cannot upload my interior pdf. I get the generic error message "There was an error uploading the file. Please try again." I have double checked that it's flattened and fonts are embedded.
I have no idea what the problem is because that error message gives no guidance.
I was trying Lulu on this new project, but I'm not sure if this is the right platform for me.

Not being overly negative, but I cannot recommned Lulu at this time. I bet even the CEO does not recommend Lulu right now! They had a massive upgrade two weeks ago, and massive issues have ensued - much of the website simply does not yet function, sadly.

I submitted a ticket, but I've given up on Lulu for this project. Frustrating that I spent time prepping the files. Back to IngramSpark and KDP, but maybe I'll try Lulu again in the future when they get it together.

Yes jmcraven, if they get it right and get rid of the problems I think you will like Lulu. However if you are ready to publish now I agree with adrianallan, to try and make a book with Lulu now, is perhaps not the right time. Paul is a member here and on the staff at Lulu. You could message him and ask if it would be OK.

Very saddened over the issues with Lulu and the lack of communication from them. I sure expected more. I have decided to seek out another source to print/distribute books. I am hoping someday I will gain access to my manuscripts and maybe Lulu will arise from the dead. It seems at the very least the poorest of manners for the administration to not communicate with their customers regularly and honestly.

I must have changed password at least fifty times and still no joy. My covers have appeared but no revenue and some of my books are showing pending, even though they were published years ago. Tired of going through password routine to view updates. Sad to say, but I think I've published my last book with Lulu.

That is sad news Hulsey. I have enjoyed reading your books. I'll look out for you on Amazon

A little while ago I instructed Lulu Press to delete the print versions of all of my work from their site, just as I let them know I'll decide about the epubs later.
When I can afford to buy a block of ISBNs I'll set up print versions of my work elsewhere, because to be honest Lulu Press has cost me more money than I've made from utilizing their services.
Whoever pushed an incomplete buggy system into service before it was ready showed a distinct lack of mental acuity.

Ingram Spark just redid their website and there's a clear drop down with Get a Free ISBN from Ingram Spark. They are the top of the food chain. Extremely professional.

Take your word docs, make a 5.5x8.5, resize the cover and use another POD. It seems daunting but you have a lot of help here if you want it.

I intend to buy a block of ISBNs, with my little press listed as publisher of record. That will happen early next year, and since I have my original files it will be an easy transition.
I've had enough of free stuff which isn't actually free due to all the terms and conditions.
