At least Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, who wrote those lines and many other wickedly funny and quotable Blackadder barbs, know the difference between mocking clichés and pandering to stereotypes. Unlike Hollywood it seems..... Irish Times film critic Donald Clarke reviewing the trailer for Wild Mountain Thyme, a new film set in what apparently America thinks modern Ireland is like (seemingly The Quiet Man meets Darby O'Gill, faith and begorrah!) - "What in the name of holy bejaysus and all the suffering saints is this benighted cowpat?"
