Enjoy the day.
I get to work on cooking a bird which means the semi-wild cats outside and the elderly swamp cat inside will be happy-ish this evening.
If the kids calm down early this evening with the tryptophan from the bird, the spouse and I will be happy-ish.

When the kitchen mess corrected, The tryptophan's done its work, If wine glass not neglected, The night may have its perks!

Our not-quite three-year-old has his little bed in our room [until spring rolls around] and we can put him in his own room.
For now we'll both be happy if he doesn't wake us up tonight.

Our not-quite three-year-old has his little bed in our room [until spring rolls around] and we can put him in his own room. For now we'll both be happy if he doesn't wake us up tonight. I won’t always cry, Mummy, When you leave the room and my supermarket tantrums, Will end too soon, I won’t always wake, Daddy, For cuddles through the night And one day you’ll miss, Having a chocolate face to wipe. You won’t always wake to find my foot is kicking you out of bed, Or find me sideways on your pillow, Where you want to lay your head. You won’t always have to carry me in Asleep from the car, Or piggy back me down the road, When my little legs can’t walk that far, So cherish every cuddle, Remember them all, Because one day, Mummy. I won’t be this small. Anon

Small is relative in my youngest son's case since he's over three feet tall [slightly under one meter]. Most of the time he's good with whatever activity he's interested in, whether it's doing 1st Grade stuff or harassing his older sisters.
He rarely naps, can do a two mile hike mostly on his own, isn't really a cuddler, though he does lay claim all the territory as his domain.
And seemingly before I can blink twice he'll be over six feet tall.

He is only almost three though, still so very young.

Tryptophan. I’d never heard that word until reading this thread.
Lives and learns.

When my younger daughter was turning two, people thought she was mentally defective because she wasn't acting like a typical three to four-year-old. When the boy was nine-months-old and walking people didn't want to believe it.
There is a downside for precocious kids.

I'm so jealous you have kids with you. I can hardly bear to read it. But I'm also happy for you. I should have had more.

I have three grandchildren via my oldest son and odds are I'll never meet any of his dotters.
I was lucky enough to have three young children this time around, and odds are I won't last long enough to see them have children.
The reality is helping them learn things like self-control is a job. No matter how much a parent loves a child, if the child screws up as an adult the parent will share the blame.

That is so true Cameron. One of my courses was called "The Psychology of Crime." In so many instances the parents were blamed when their kids went bad.
