It would be great if we could find a list of all the users and send just one mass email inviting everyone who is registered at lulu.com.
We could mention that we offer valuable advice, tips, shortcuts, which would ultimately save them time and money on proofs. And also that we're free. Our information, direction, and sometimes actual help with the book files, are all free.

I'm pretty sure providing a list like this would violate Lulu's Terms and Conditions. We can't share user emails outside of the company, there's way too much risk for data being lost or falling into a spammer's hands.

The simple solution would be to steer people who want to produce the best book they can but who can't afford many [if any] paid services to the people who have proven willing to provide such help even if only advice.

Paul, I know. But that's too bad. There has to be a way to let people know there is yet another resource. A free one, a kind one, and an amusing one.

Cameron, I actually think we are good for lulu users. We are here and willing. On my other side, I am being paid to work, and here I am free.

If you look at some of the schlock produced by people who just don't care about the quality of what they're trying to sell [more often than not], it's not hard to understand why some people look down on self-published authors. There will always be people who want to make a fast buck and who think a book is the quickest way to do that. [Those guys usually never followed any advice from other users and it showed.]
The Lulu Fora are good for those Lulu Press users who may not be able to afford to pay much if anything for services yet want to make the best book they can. It wouldn't be difficult for Lulu Press to provide a link to these boards for the Do-It-Yourself crowd with the disclaimer it's Caveat Emptor when it comes to paying outside parties [if any payment is asked for].
I also suspect that as the new software wizards come online the experienced users using them who are members here will post tips and workarounds.
Just something to ponder.
