Yesterday I revised one of my ebook files and unchecked the boxes for distribution to Barnes and Noble, Apple and Other Distributors as I no longer want the book for sale on those sites. Does anyone know how long it takes for the book to be taken down from those websites?
Thanks! Jamie Lynn

The same time as it takes to have it distributed : 8 weeks at most.

I retired paperback and hardback versions of three books last July, they still show as available on Amazon, B&N, and elsewhere.
After the Lulu Press "upgrade" last year it's best to not expect things to move in an expeditious manner, because they often won't.

It's been seven months and they still haven't taken them down?? That's insane! All I want to do is LEAVE Lulu as soon as possible and transfer to D2D, but I can't do that until Lulu takes down my books. There's no way I'm going to wait 7 months for my ebooks to be removed.

There is no incentive for resellers to remove titles. A publication takes up a minute amount of server capacity and has little ongoing cost. It doesn’t matter whether you have “taken it down” or not as an order cannot be fulfilled on it.
There is absolutely nothing to stop you creating new versions of your books with D2D, a small edit and new ISBN.

I can recommend Draft2Digital. Mind you I only made a free ebook with them, but they give excellent support and I will make my next book with D2D (If I ever finish it!) I didn't choose Amazon for global because Amazon won't let me set the book to "Free." "Not great for Amazon Draft2Digital is a platform aimed at authors “going wide” and selling the books in as many places as possible. As a result, they don’t support a number of Amazon functions such as KDP Select, Kindle Unlimited, and the ability to set your book to “Free.” These require you to sell your book exclusively through Amazon — which sort of defeats the purpose of an aggregator." blog.reedsy.com/draft2digital-reviews/

Well, the order not able to be fulfilled doesn't seem to be true, as I just purchased a copy of the ebook I told them to remove.
And I've honestly never heard of being able to have two versions of an ebook available at the same time, even with two different ISBN numbers.

Thanks so much for letting me know D2D is good to work with! I'm eager to get away from Lulu completely and shift over to them. And yes, I did hear about D2D and Amazon, which is why I've also chosen to go through KDP directly. I'll let D2D handle all of the other distributors. If Lulu would just start removing my ebooks from everywhere I could get the process started!

You can have as many versions as you like as long as they different ISBNs.
Okay, then, good to know! Thanks!

Think a bit with marketing: How about a "Gold Edition" with a particularly beautiful cover and bound with D2D? And because it's so successful, there's also a paperback edition of the Gold Edition also on D2D ;-)

Hmm...definitely food for thought!

I just finished speaking with customer service at D2D (and they were lovely, unlike LuLu's) and she let me know that even if the ISBNs are different, you're only allowed to have a duplicate ebook up for a maximum of 4 weeks, otherwise it will be pulled. So now I need to wait and see how long it's going to take LuLu to remove the one I asked them to and then use that as my timing for the rest of my books going forward.
