I haven't got round to it yet but I saw one criticism on the lulu facebook page that it doesn't allow a full page photo on a cover? Is that right?

I haven't heard either for certain. Checked out this one of a guy I watch sometimes. He just used a full page graphic in his cover here. youtu.be/ZHW4fgsO1os so it appears that you can use full page graphics on them. It seems that Lulu is giving you a template like they give us for one piece covers. So I don't see why you couldn't.

There are no restrictions on what can be used and where. It is essentially a blank canvas pre sized to your book cover dimensions. I did explain in fully in a previous thread. It’s not particularly easy to use nor is it quick, a lot of practice is needed in fully understanding it’s intricacies. I recommend several days trying various options.

Yes if I decide to self-publish (my third book in the Stolen series) with Lulu I will try Canva. I've been looking at it and I've seen several videos on how to make a book cover with them. JesusNinja, that site you gave was useful.and the instructor mentions Lulu. Ken also provided some useful information about Lulu and Canva. Perhaps he will share it here.

Yes the guy in the video is a great guy. He writes children's books among others. He also has streams on Lulu and other outlets. He teaches how to format and how to make covers using various programs. Another stream I used to follow is DalePublishing. Who gives great advice on getting your books to look good and how to get them to sell. Got to treat it like a business.
