I don't write romance or other types of formula fiction. Understood. It was just a suggestion for a potential publisher as they have many imprints.

I don't write romance or other types of formula fiction. Understood. It was just a suggestion for a potential publisher as they have many imprints. I did look at the current imprints, and none of my work would find a ready home there. I suppose I could write something where the characters are getting all hot and sweaty, but who would want to read about two people slogging through a subtropical swamp picking leaches off each other while waxing rhapsodic over the joys of a hot shower, clean sheets, and unlimited room service?
Current [imprints]
Mills & Boon currently publish several imprints. Several titles are published monthly in most imprints. These are all identifiable by a series title (and sometimes sub-series title) as well as a colour border (which differs depending on the country in which the title is published):
By Request: Reissues of novels from the Modern or Romance series. Introduced in 1995. Dare: Sexually explicit novels akin to the former Blaze series. Introduced in 2018. Desire: Sexual novels featuring couples in a contemporary setting with dramatic plots. For many years, the Desire imprint only featured two-in-one books. Introduced in the 1980s as a Silhouette imprint and became a Mills and Boon imprint in 2007. Historical: Romance mixed with historical fiction. (e.g. Romance in 1920s New York or 17th century England.) Formerly called Masquerade (1977–1993), Legacy of Love (1993–1996) and Historical Romance (1996–2007). Heroes: Thrilling stories mainly about survival and suspense. Introduced in 2013 and formally known as Romantic Suspense (2013–2018) Heartwarming: Books that celebrate traditional values and love. Introduced in 2018. Love Inspired: Books about faith, hope and the power of love itself. Introduced in 2018. Modern: Novels focus on glamorous and 'sophisticated' passionate romance in international locations. Featuring intense relationships, often very sexual, often reflecting shared feelings and desires. Introduced in 2000 and formally known as Modern Romance. Medical: Contemporary romances set against the background of the medical profession. Introduced in 1977 and formally known as Doctor Nurse Romance (1977–1989), Love on Call (1993-1996) and Medical Romance (1989–1993, 1996–2007, 2010–2018). True Love: Warm and emotional novels that focus on capturing the feeling of falling in love. Introduced in 2018. Special Releases: Includes seasonal collections and reissue anthologies. Supernatural: Stories focusing on the paranormal romance. Introduced in 2018, replacing Intrigue.
e-book only imprints
Vintage: Backlist titles from the Modern. Desire and Historical imprints published in e-book format. American Romance: themed around classically American heroes such as cowboys. e-book only. Historical Undone: shorter length historical editorial of greater sensuality in general than the Historical series. e-book only. Kimani: African-American romances. e-book only. Love Inspired: Inspirational romance. e-book only. Love Inspired Suspense: Inspirational romance containing themes of intrigue or thriller titles. e-book only. Love Inspired Historical: Inspirational romance containing historical themes and settings. e-book only. Nocturne Cravings: shorter length titles dealing with darker and paranormal themes. e-book only.

Cameron, you’ve certainly done some research there. As I said previously it was just meant to be a helpful suggestion.
On a lighter note your “ slogging through a subtropical swamp picking leaches off each other while waxing rhapsodic over the joys of a hot shower, clean sheets, and unlimited room service” certainly stirred some memories for me. You could have included after ‘picking leached off each other’ and some buggers try to kill you.

I myself have certain memories of less than pleasant circumstances, which may hold interest to me or those who have been through such but most people really don't want of need to know. Normal adventure is basically 90% slogging through the proverbial swamp dealing with what lives there and 10% about-to-be-pants-wetting due to all the schtuff dropping in the pot. I include certain aspects of that reality in my work, but unless I want something as long as Tolkien's work it's best to leave large chunks of it in memory.
And yes, I do tend to research things. I have the same basic mental toolkit as my brothers the retired epidemiologist and the research pharmacologist. Hence part of the reason I don't write romance, erotica, or similar because the genres are simply too predictable. If you read "Mono-Earth: The War of the Egg" it has appendices at the back. Nothing shows dedication to "What if" quite like including orbital data.
My guide to publishers [and agents] should be here soon. Now back to doing dishes, drying the towels I put in the machine an hour ago, and et ceteras.

Dog with a bone springs to mind. Why are you so rude Ken. Some people have left because of your rudeness. You can be helpful but that is spoilt by your rudeness. Christopher Mason contacted me and said he had left because of certain people!!!! I remember how you were with Christopher. Please don't ruin our lovely forum. Also although you have denied being banned from The Lulu forum I have been contacted by someone in the know (I don't mean Kevin) who said you were banned. So just be helpful as I know you can be and please don't be rude and make comments like the one above and remarks like people in our forum don't understand subtlety etc. It's a shame when we lose even one person.
