I realize that you neither expected nor asked for a critique of your cover, so I hope you will not mind this suggestion... There is no need for any extraneous space or blocks of color on the cover. The original image is very nice...just enlarge it and crop it to fit the entire cover. I wish you the very best of luck with your book!

oly shit man, being rude and nasty isn't neccessary. Is this more to you liking oh king? If you mean me and my baby poo comment? No nastiness is intended. I am viewing it as others may do, your potential buyers, and I have often heard that shade of brown referred to as baby poo brown (the colour obtained when feeding them on baby milk made from powder, not while weening them on bones and raw hamsters). People usually make an instant opinion when perusing book covers.
Yes, that image is far better. Matches the title well. And my opinions are given in good faith, but perhaps too honest?

Well I liked the cover. A clever photo which catches the eye. And I also liked the graph-paper effect, particularly because I hadn't seen it used before. If your book was laid out with a load of others on one of those tables inside a bookshop, I think it would stand out. So there, everyone! Covers can often be just a matter of opinion.
Because the graphpaper effect is one of the default backgrounds in the old Lulu cover Wizards, and oft used, it spoke to me of, self-published. Sorry

... I understand how difficult it is to hear critical comments, but that's often the price one pays when posting a cover and asking for opinions ... This Board is headed "Book Announcement and Promotion", not "Please criticise my Book Cover". And, after all the author's hard work, it does seem pointless to pull their cover-design apart - unless of course he or she had previously uploaded a draft and asked for comments. I've seen a number of covers on this forum which didn't appeal to me. All of mine, of course, are brilliant. Indeed it is. But should that stop us trying to advise someone new to creating a cover in order for it to better Announce and Promote their book? In our opinions of course. It's hardly pulling it apart. The OP is graciously taking the advice to heart.

Precisely! This is the ANNOUNCEMENT Forum, NOT the Critique & Help Forum. Well, perhaps you should block comments? As Lulu did in their forum Promote section, after many years of many people actually welcoming the advice. But a rare few getting a bit miffed!

Indeed, well done, although I think the graphpaper effect for the top of the cover is out of place, and the title and your name could be much larger. Don't be shy! Critique not required. Really? and yet the OP is making adjustments.

But, yes that is better, as long as the original image can stand being enlarged. But thankfully, with a camera, a bit of sand, and some water, it can be reproduced larger.

BlueandGold, THANK YOU for buying my poetry! You are the first person! Deborahinwi, BlueAndGold writes very good poetry. I would buy one of his poetry books, but because of my deteriorating sight i have to buy eBooks so I can enlarge the print. BlueAndGold doesn't do eBooks.

Ok, I like my brown cover, but this one I think I may go with. It reflects on where I am from. So there.
