Most people in the US are aware the Impeachment Trial has started. Reminds me of a South American Telenovela though.

It's highly entertaining, and a good reminder to the world that Americans are educated, smart, kind and have integrity. Thank God. I remember the coverage of Nixon's almost-Impeachment -- despite Nixon saying "I am not a crook" and all the evidence to the contrary my father swore Nixon would go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents.
I remember the coverage of Clinton's Impeachment -- after the second Special Counsel spent a long time and a lot of money trying to discover a crime the best he could come up with was Clinton lying about an affair with an intern.
This time around, it's more of a telenovela.

Can you imagine there wasn't an impeachment? People who don't work with Americans would think they all spoke and thought and looked like DT. I work and befriend them so I know he is an anomaly. But it sure is lovely to see truth apparent on the screen.

I've actually watched the impeachment trial from day one and read all of the transcripts. Trump never once mentioned money or threatened to hold it back when asking Ukraine for a favor. He also did not ask Ukraine to do "him' a favor. He said will you do us a favor, our country has been through a lot. The media has misquoted Trump over and over. Trump was asking for investigation into corruption with Barisma, a corrupt gas company in Ukraine. Joe Biden's son just happen to work for that company making $83,000 a month sitting on the board with no experience in energy at all. Joe Biden took one billion dollars to Ukraine and told them they wouldn't get the money if they didn't fire the investigating attorney. He gave them six hours. It's all on tape of him bragging about it. Even saying Obama backed him. Ukraine was already investigating the company before Trump asked them too. But enough politics not the place for it.  |

JesusNinja, My comment about the current Impeachment reminding me of a telenovela meant just that, the subsequent commentary was meant to show just how easy it is for a writer to take a few snippets from different times in history to start weaving a story. But since that bit of a telenovela [which is obviously fiction] caused such obvious personal distress and defensiveness by unintentionally challenging your political views, you're right this isn't the place for discussion of even a fictional political story. By extension, it's also not the place for discussion of any one person's personal views on religion, global warming, genetics, or any other subject that might cause someone somewhere to take offense even though there might be some inspiration for a story.

Ah, you really need to watch your wording because it's very easy to read your statement as implying I'm not a US citizen, which is factually incorrect. When I was born there were 48 stars on the flag, and it wasn't long before there were 49 and then 50.
I'm also not agreeing with you the way you seem to think I am, as Un-American as you may find that.
The basic intent of my 'agreement' is that since you obviously dislike even a fictional perspective that disagrees with your own then we self-censor all topics others might find offensive.
Another point, if you don't like the perspective people in other countries might have of your country, consider why those people have the perspectives they do. |

Unfortunately, it was not visible due to some fog. Only read two post so far. I will pause and share the image in my mind as I was preparing to log in and read.
I am with my rich posse and there's a rich man across the street who might want to replace me in my high position at work. I go up to a beggar on the street and flash a hamburger across his face and say, "Do us a favour. Go up to that guy across the street and spit on him, and tell the world he's a thief and a liar." And I still keep flashing the juicy hamburger in front of his face. It smells so good and he's hungry. Perhaps he could share it with his starving family at home also in danger of dying from lack of food.
Anyway, this poor beggar, what is he to do? I didn't tell him to go smear that guy across the street or I wouldn't give him the hamburger. I said, do us a favor. Besides, that guy across the street has probably been up to no good.
It certainly would help me keep my job if that guy were to disappear. And I hold the juiciest hamburgers, lots of them. Any beggar would be lucky to do my bidding so I could give him some hamburgers.
Anyway, that is how I thought of it in simple terms before waiting half the day to come respond to this post.
