Cameron, If people are being critical it may be due to the fact in the past Lulu Press had fewer ongoing issues with how it worked, versus the roughly year long upgrade which was supposed to take two days and still really isn't finished. In doing business with a for-profit business the expectation should be that reported issues are the exception rather than the rule.
Fewer ongoing issues? I wonder if that is really true. There may have been newer and different issues, but perhaps being one of the oldest users I can certainly remember life at Lulu never being without them. In my personal opinion change always present difficulties for some as by their very nature folk are always reluctant to change. As for how for-profit business works it always make me smile that the most critical are those who believe that Lulu has a contract with them, or them with Lulu and expect copper bottomed guarantees of service for which they pay next to nothing. Coming back to the thread in question it is not unusual on a web based service to occasionally suffer a 404 outage. Considering how promptly it was resolved does demonstrate that processes were in place to quickly remedy the situation. In my opinion one working day for a non critical episode is not unreasonable. Of course many of us would also like to discover the reason for it. I have my own ideas but of course like everyone else no evidence. Having written code myself you are of course the only qualified person expert enough to have an opinion.

Anyone else's missing? I just clicked on my link and got 404 error message. My books are still searchable just the authorpage is gone. Mine is missing, too. Mine is showing again. Lulu Author Spotlight It's just so plain compared to the previous version. Not really much to look at. Can't imagine it would draw the attention of a customer. It certainly doesn't draw my attention and those are my books.

Having written code myself you are of course the only qualified person expert enough to have an opinion. Exactly the response I expected from you. Nothing changes. Actually things in this world are constantly changing, to include myself.
Try stepping back and consider when dealing with people you actually know little about, you can avoid ill will by avoiding preconceived generalizations.
A veces lo que crees que sabes de alguien está lejos de la realidad. Piénsalo.

You know little about me but seemingly always want to have a pop. Let’s just ignore each other as it obvious we live in completely different worlds, Actually I'm not going to ignore you. Apart from the reality we both live in different parts of the same world, I do have a reason for scrutinizing posts people make. Something about being a moderator which should be included as part of the British dictionary; choose one.
As for me "always want to have a pop", I'm not Kevin Lomas.
Try to remember the fora have members from different parts of the world who may have a very different take on how you're phrasing things.
Pasa buen tarde.

Mine is showing again. Lulu Author Spotlight It's just so plain compared to the previous version. Not really much to look at. Can't imagine it would draw the attention of a customer. It certainly doesn't draw my attention and those are my books. How is it different to a previous version? They seem identical. Years ago, we could choose a picture as our thumbnail and it would show up quite large on the site. We could write whatever we wanted for our author profile and change it whenever we wanted. The page was in a really nice format. All of that is gone with this boring version.

Mine is showing again. Lulu Author Spotlight It's just so plain compared to the previous version. Not really much to look at. Can't imagine it would draw the attention of a customer. It certainly doesn't draw my attention and those are my books. How is it different to a previous version? They seem identical. No they are not the same. The old one had your name at the top. Which you could change at any time. No longer. On either side of the page "your choice" would a description written by you about the author or company name you're using. Also at the top was the choice to put a logo. Then to the left or right would be the option to add a video. You could also make the books appear in the order you wanted them too. As in the latest published, priced, and other choices. The new one is bland, blank, and has no choices. You can't add or change anything now. Also the most irritating thing is, that now if you want to see more of what the author has you click view more. This instead of going to another new page of books ,simply reloads the page making you scroll down already viewed books to get to the newer ones. No one is going to do that especially if you have 5 to 10 pages of books or more. Wish I had a screen shot of my old one to show you. The new design of the site is terrible and very bland compared to the old one. It used to be much better and the authors felt more like a family because of the forum where you could get help much faster than contacting support. Now that's gone. New authors not knowing of this site will be at the mercy of waiting two weeks for support to get back to them. The old forum was where I met many people here. I learned more from them than I ever did from support.

It does seem that the raison d'etre for this group is to continually moan and groan about each and everything that pertains to Lulu. Our group has helped so many people Ken . Yes people have come here and complained about the Lulu update and asked how to resolve certain problems and our members have helped them. However members have helped people about other things too. I had problems with my cover for "Let's be Kind" and also wanted to make an even simpler version for very young children. Bizzley, Maggie, Jesus Ninja, BlueAndGold, Cameron and Ron were very helpful and gave me ideas and suggestions. tasmanianartist told us a lot about her country and entertained us with stories about her mother. BlueAndGold has delighted us with his poetry. I have learned many new words from Cameron and been fascinated with his stories about his little children. Ron has given excellent advice about covers. Others here have experienced similar help. We have found out about each others books. I finally bought a science fiction book from a member and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. I had never read a science fiction book before. You too Ken helped me with my book "Let's be Kind." Our forum members have given so many people help and advice on many different issues not all concerning Lulu. When Maggie had a personal problem, she came here for support and her friends gave it to her. It's much more than a place to moan and groan Ken. However a groan about something you really liked and which changed so drastically is a good thing---"get it off your chest." Don't judge us on the short time you have actively participated in our forum Ken. Thank you benziger for starting this forum and the excellent help and advice you have given.

Your original comment was “completely useless”. What I disagree with is the use of the word “completely”.
Conceded. I can see some utility. Sorry about that. Oki doki, trying to find the thread. No internet one night and I'm lost.

Oki doki, trying to find the thread. No internet one night and I'm lost.It all started when our storefronts disappeared Mag2024. Luckily they are back. Many of our members and lots of others (according to google Ken ) contacted Lulu about the issue and fortunately Lulu resolved the problem.
