I used the technique on a book before and the cover is a couple holding apples. The book had a bikini clad lady before but it was not allowed as it was deemed too rude. So smiling couple with apples. Yes what is NOT said there. Not a cliché in sight. Couple is to much for them. The US, the greatest porn industry, is puritanical. there is so much to be said in your words here... like the defense industry it just goes on and on and on hehe

Yes what is NOT said there. Not a cliché in sight. I just answered and lost it so I'll repeat briefly. Apple falling from the sky. Red. Book titled Eve. Ron can surely add a better twist here. There is a way to invoke smut without actually showing or saying it. yes there is, like there is in a crime story which does not need a gun or knife on the cover.

Some Americans are Puritanical, others aren't. The same holds true for other countries. True. But there are many still with old school values. Same holds true for Crete. In fact, they are 200 years behind Canada in their thinking, which is a good thing. the island of Crete? I went there and its amazing shame i was too drunk to hike. I read a history book where they push German soldier POWs into a 150 foot deep pothole not very nice but the soldiers did very bad things. And blood feuds are the way there so yes they were a bit behind.

They don't like tattle-tales or the establishment much over there.
Let me not start on what the Germans did to the Greeks. Heard the stories growing up and they are much worse than being pushed into a hole.
Too bad you couldn't hike. Had you had one more drink you wouldn't have even known you were too drunk.

I want to go back one day to Crete the book of the same name by Anthony Beevor is a good read it mentions Pendlebury an Allied officer with a glass eye and a pistol. He hiked 3 months and covered 1000 miles then. He loved the place. He left his glass eye on his desk when going on operations. I drank ouzo/raki type drink. Was potent. Went on a war history tour and had to climb over balcony to leave the room as locked in. Never mind a gas cylinder explosion blew in all the store plate glass windows. I want to see Knossos, Souda Gorge and the Labyrinth one day.

I have yet to go to any gorge. My goal is to keep the Land and the people here and to bring all of mine from overseas. So come, everybody.😉

To me Crete could be like this. With a small bit of lateral thinking almost a science fiction setting. Battles of terrible ferocity, many types of weapons used, an almost beyond description landscape of great harsh staggering beauty, the human stories that are the equal of anywhere. And I never knew bamboo grew in Crete tho i guess the climate must be sub tropical. German parachutists got impaled on it. I do wanna go back there. I want to stay in the many mountain ranges there. Of that fact i am certain. Shame i can only be in one place at once lol.

I do know, though, that they have lots of knives and guns. They gave the Germans a really hard time. PS. I returned from a quick trip to Athens this morning. Two ships in two days. Like it was nothing. Only 36 Euro one way.

Like it was nothing. Only 36 Euro one way. The Crete invasion as described in Beevor's history book mentions the Germans being stuck on the bamboo. I think it grows in groves and is cut by the locals to make fences and wind breaks for the crops. I see cut bamboo in the Philippines when i climb here and it's lethal to fall on or near. Stuck Germans is like a horror film scene. I wonder if it hurt? An Italian pilot bailed out over Malta he ended up on a bronze statue that had a sword on it. Not very pretty. Awesome you went there by ship must've been a good trip. I'm waiting to hike again when time.

Got invited to Ukraine too but same thing stops me, having to pay the bills etc. Jet fuel is costly too.
